Thallon State School was established on the 24th July, 1911. It is a small two-teacher primary school situated 78 kilometres south of St George in Queensland.
Our school students come from farming families, many of whom have parents and even grandparents who attended Thallon State School.
The school is an integral part of our resilient community, enduring through droughts and floods to keep the dream alive. In our opinion, it's a great little school with a dedicated principal and teaching staff who are all long standing locals.
Our fantastic little country school provides a great start for Kindy aged student all the way to Year 6. Our current student numbers are at 19 amazing talented kids!

The Thallon Truck Pull is proudly organised by the Thallon State School P&C Association. Our P&C is made up of just nine families — the parents of our students — who volunteer their time, energy, and hard work to bring this unique event to life.
The idea for the Truck Pull was born in 2020, during one of the toughest droughts Western Queensland had faced in decades. At a time when many families were leaving the district in search of work, our P&C wanted to send a clear message: Thallon is a great place to live, work, and play.
What started as a simple idea has grown into a much-loved community event — celebrating strength, teamwork, and country spirit, while raising vital funds for our small but mighty rural school.
